I just found your blog through Comipress, so I figured leaving a message. ;)

Yeah that's true, you see a lot of people here in Switzerland call the genre Shounen Ai, though I always try to refrain from it, because it's simply wrong. But I already guessed that you were using the word because you were writing about the 70ies and 80ies. That's what got me thinking.

Beside Shounen Ai, there's also Tanbi... Which I really would like to read. ^^; It's also interesting how the whole genre changed so much, but when I think about it, it's the same with a lot of media (Not only Manga/ Anime but also Western Films etc).

Just look at Shoujo Manga from the early 70ies and 80ies and now. Even though the themes are similar, the execution is so different. You could compare it a bit to the evolution of the whole Shounen Ai/Tanbi/BL Genre. Overall it's easier to read and lighter to take, which doesn't necessarily mean that it's less deep. All in all it's a complicated world. XD

Well I'm no expert, I'm just throwing in my own ideas, correct me if I'm wrong.

And speaking of old school and Shounen Ai... The day Kaze to Ki no Uta is licensed, I'll probably jump out the window out of pure joy. XD

I saved your RSS and will be following it with pleasure. :)

Thanks Suzu for visiting! :3 And I'm glad you appreciated this.

And I'm happy you noticed how I used shounen-ai too. The reason why I used shounen-ai is because I'm referring to a time wherein it was really just considered shounen-ai and not BL. BL is not shounen-ai but shounen-ai is a part of BL. Maybe I should write an article about it. :) I just realized lately that it is something historically rooted, if ever.
