Hi,<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m Kristine Michelle “Khursten” Santos.

Welcome to Otaku Champloo, a personal blog that I started in 2006 where I feature my love for various things related to popular culture from Japan and Southeast Asia, particularly manga and Boys Love.

I am a Manila-based cultural historian and Media Studies scholar at Ateneo de Manila University where I teach and research the intersections of Asian popular culture, gender, and media history, specialising in the analysis of Boys Love and its implications for women and queer cultures in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This blog has a long history where I used to be a part of MangaCast<\/a>, occasionally participated in roundtables on Manga Bookshelf<\/a>, hosted some Manga Moveable Feasts<\/a>, and written for various publications on manga and BL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve also given presentations at various academic conferences and fan conventions such as Lights Out, Blush Con, Room801, FujoCon, Casa Con, BlymeCon, and others. I have also appeared on various BL podcasts.

I also blog about other things on punked noodle<\/a>.

More importantly, I am a proud fujoshi and this blog is a long-running celebration of that life.
