Merry Christmas everybody!

Finally, got some freedom from some school work and chores. It’s all about the holidays now. And in time with the holidays are gifts! And in the case of OtaChan, gifts come in forms of manga! Wheeee~~~!!??????????????????(( *~??????~)

So what are great mangas to give away to friends during the holidays? Well, although it’s quite late, in case you haven’t decided yet, here’s a roster of mangas to give away to friends!!

To: A friend who thought that Death Note was the BEST EVER!!
Monster. I used to think that Death Note was the best manga ever because of its mature story and interesting chase between L and Light. But I certainly ate my words when I read Monster. For once, the best mangas are not just Shounen Jump titles. It just turns out that Shounen Jump gets more of their mangas animated hence the popularity of their mangas in the foreign market. If you’re a nut, you’ll definitely find more publishers with better stories for you to read. And Monster, should be a convincing tale on how great a manga could be. Yes, I’d give all my friends copies of Monster if I have to. It’s one of my favorites and I wish this would change their mind about how great mangas are.
To: A friend who loves his music
Beck. It’s all about Rock and Roll and a Hard Day’s Night. Okay… that sounded bad, but I’m sure your friend will feel the band rush the moment he flips through your pages of Beck. It definitely will take your friend back to his dreams of owning his own rock band, quitting school to buy his guitar, and getting that hot chick who understands his music. For sure, he won’t end with that vol. 1 you’re giving him. He’ll love Beck as much as he has loved his music. While you’re at it, give your friend a copy of the anime or the soundtrack so that he could listen to some tunes featured in the manga. If he doesn’t start singing Moon on the Water with you, then you should have just given him Monster instead.
To: An otaku friend or to a friend who hates otakus.
Genshiken. A frigging great manga about the study of the stimulating world of Modern Japanese Visual Culture. To an otaku, it’s a great manga to read and see what idiot things you have been doing yourself. To someone who hates otakus, this is a great chance to see that at times, these freaks of nature (ouchies!) also knows how to have fun. Besides, among them could be a Kohsaka.
To: A girl who loves her bishounens.
Detective Bluecat. I don’t know why I suggested this, but God, it fits the bill for any girl who loves her boys in nice clean suits. More so, it takes that reluctant detective to the next level. The Pr0ntastic level. It’s got tension, humor, and smex. That’s enough to feed a hungry fangirl, right?
Nodame Cantabile To: Those who want to take a break from their action shounen and mushy shoujo and yaoi
Nodame Cantabile. Because I want to suggest this and indeed this is a refreshing manga for both boys and girls and pornies. The drama has sparked lots of attention for the manga! YAAAAY!!! So yeah, that’ll be great and stuff. :3 But as to why it is refreshing to read… well, comedies are always refreshing. More so, it’s nice and bubbly without being painful in the head.

There goes my little Christmas list for people to see. If you haven’t done your shopping yet, hope this helps. If not, get a shirt from HornyManatee.com. The Manatees need it. lol.

It seems that there’s a lot of top 10 2006 things popping up, but I’ll leave that to the New Year. :3 Merry Christmas guys!
