Wow, and just when I thought that publishers would stretch Conan out, Aoyama is already plotting with the end in mind! ANN gives the scoop on a recent interview of Aoyama-sensei in Sankei Shimbun. I guess the next question is when and how. I’d say in two years, an end will come. Maybe even a year if Aoyama-sensei feels like the fans deserve to see the end already. I think fans also feel how close Conan is in unveiling the mask of the Black Organization. No spoilers here, but if you’re following, I’m sure you know how the new insider is working, with a great loss, of course. *sniff*

Of course, the next great big question, what will Aoyama’s plot bunnies do next? The Conan fangirl in me WAAANT to see Shinichi Kudou all big and solving cases. Of course, I doubt this will happen as a series since it’d be no different to Kindaichi. Maybe a special. Add a slice of lovey-dovey moment with Ran as well. :3 But kids who grew up on Conan will surely appreciate what Kudou does after he solves this whole BO fiasco. Of course, Conan is not Aoyama’s limit too. Aoyama’s a great story teller and I’d say I’m sure he’s up to something great up to his sleeve. Maybe another cultural icon? Maybe something more mature? We don’t know but I’ll look forward to it.

We’ve seen many authors, like Tezuka and Urasawa, who started out with stories for kids and teenagers, eventually evolving their stories to something more mature. I hope this happens to Aoyama as well. Although, if he sticks to his kiddie stories, it’s not so bad either! I’m with you all the way Aoyama-sensei!!
