So good things happened yesterday and one of which was this announcement that A-1 pictures, the studio behind Persona and Utapuri are animating Nakamura Asumiko’s Doukyuusei series! You can check the official anime page too!

The series casts the same crew in the official drama cd. That means Nojima Kenji plays Sajou while Kamiya Hiroshi plays Kusakabe!

The animation looks lovely so far. *A*) Like seriously. Lovely.

Now there’s a bit of speculation here and there. Is this an anime series? Maybe. Their news say they’re having a big booth in Anime Japan, so I figure it’s something big. If it’s not a series, maybe a movie. If it’s a movie, then it’ll probably just carry on until Sotsugyousei (Graduates) but I think they should push until OB just to make everyone happy. That’ll fit around 12 episodes. Maybe. Is it something released with the manga? Probably not. Else, only Opera would make the news and they won’t bother with the official anime site. Why Doukyuusei? I can only speculate that this is the result of Asumiko’s hard work which paid off as it became really popular. At the end of the day, it’s a really great story.

Haven’t read Doukyuusei? You can read it in Japanese digitally via Kindle or Ebookjapan(it’s on sale for 300yen in ebookjapan!). In English, you could have read it in JManga (but that died) and I think it’s DMG that’s releasing the series now via Emanga. If you want to follow news about it, follow their official twitter too!
