Hey guys! Happy 801, Yaoi no Hi! /o/

As a gift to all of you, I’ve finally compiled the 2015 BL Webcomic Rec List from all you amazing people. Super thanks! Had I done this alone you’d probably get a handful but I got tons from you guys which means you’ve got tons of things to read this 801 weekend!

A long list is long. I’m so happy that you guys gave so many titles and I did my best to squeeze some time to look at some of the recs. Now I know that I said BL and some of you may have expectations that this will be similar to some Nakamura Shungiku titles and the lot. Nope. This collection is as diverse as manga itself. Visual styles range from Archie-esque, Amecomi-esque hypermasculine bods, to more bishonen-esque boys here and there. And yes, there’s even beasts and monsters in this list, if that’s your cup of tea! I am perpetually amazed with the amount of amazing work out there! This list definitely does not disappoint.

Now, you want to spend the weekend giggling like the silly fujojo you are over these webcomics, here’s the list!

Ace of Beast (EXPLICIT)

Ace of Beasts

Two knights set for an adventure after a powerful sorcerer screws over their world. After one of them gets transformed into a beast, the two knights find a way to cope with these changes while fighting and fucking monsters in between. Aero’s knights are hot. At least for one, he’s literally hot. While I’m yet to ride on the ‘monster BL’ trail, I appreciate Aero’s efforts in making these beastly affairs hot and sexy.

All Our Cuts and Bruises

All our cuts and bruises

I’ve been traumatised by time travelling thanks to Hosoda’s Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and Orange so I feel iffy reading this comic because it reeks of heartbreak. And yet, I still click on. The story’s time travelling mystery lures you in and the art is just lovely. WHY DO I LOVE THE THINGS THAT HURT ME THE MOST!?!

Autophobia

Autophobia

Sometimes, it’s nice reading something close to home, even if it’s difficult. Louis’ teenage life is not peachy but it’s charming to see him make the most out of it with his mates and his new friend, Daniel. It’s a tender coming-of-age story. Daniel helps to make things a little lighter, making Louis’ smile precious.

Avialae

Avialae

It will take me forever to figure out how to pronounce this but at least this webcomic’s story is a lot more straightforward. The story surrounds a horny teen who suddenly grew wings and his best friend/boyfrando helps him through this transition. It’s drawn well and despite the ‘normal’ beginnings, the wings bring an interesting dynamic to the boys’ relationship!

Blossom Boys

Blossom Boys

This title had me at ‘flowershop’. I’m such a sucker for flowershop stories mostly because I have a green thumb envy,  however, when a confession entails a bouquet of flowers and gardening scissors, I can’t help but be amused. While the story’s still in its early stages, it already has cute comedic timing and well-drawn characters. It’s crazy adorable and I’m looking forward to what happens to this flowershop romance! Also, socially awkward megane kyara. Moe~~ <3

Buying Time

Buying Time

This comic calls itself a sci-fi cyberpunk romance but I didn’t imagine that even the comic itself fully utilises the web with flash animations and such. It’s amazeballs and while I haven’t read far, Vinnie’s romance looks promising.

Check, Please.

Check, Please

You guys know I love my sports mangoes right? Well, this lovely hockey shenanigans has been highly recommended by my tumblr dash since 5ever and it’s lovely and hilarious. Eric’s vlogs on his hockey life is cute and adorable and the comic had me at that shelf full of sriracha. Also, Jack is tsundebest. UGH. CHECK, PLEASE!

Dinner Ditz

Diner Ditz

Dads who make an effort to make meals for their cute babies is the most adorable thing in the world. And I’m happy that Otho Welsh thinks so too. The story about these two men building a family pulls my heartstrings. Or maybe I’m just biased because I love my food comics. ; w; STILL, this is such an adorable read.

Demon of the Underground

Demon of the Underground

Pogo’s life as a thief changes when he finds himself in a strange underground world where he must survive. It’s one of those odd paranormal fantasy story with a bit of shady underground politics and some UST (unresolved sexual tension) in between.

Dragon Husbands

Dragon Husbands

Forget the witty title because it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what this comic is all about. Set in some future version of Hong Kong, Fai finds himself in some weird place to be engaged with a dragon. Thankfully, the guy doesn’t look exactly like a dragon but dang his dragon eyes look sexy.

Exorcism Academy (EXPLICIT)

Exorcism Academy

Everyone knows that every hot exorcist is in need of a hot devil. In this gay webcomic, Ethan is paired up with a demon named Al who takes every opportunity to seduce him. While Ethan technically controls Al, I can’t help but think it’s the other way around.

Gayliens

Gayliens

You know… we never get enough gay aliens. Thankfully, Gayaliens looks quite promising even when it just started. It also has a multimedia thing going on as panels come with audio clips. NGL, the lead reminds me of one of the tumblr!canons of Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale.

Get Your Man

Get Your Man

Here’s a time-skipping story that moves in and out of many universes, from 1900s Canada to some robotic future. I find Charles, a Canadian Mountie, and Francis an adorable pair no matter what form they take.

Andreas’s the odd guy out as he’s got horns on his head. The story’s still in its early stages so I have no idea if this is just a random aesthetic or it will eventually read into a fantasy. At the very least, it’s drawn clean and it looks promising. For now, an old guy picked up Andreas and wants to be friends with benefits. Yeah. Would you ever trust an oyaji asking you to be friends with benefits, Andreas?

Hotblood

Hotblood

NGL, when I first read this last year, I was thinking ‘Oh! I got to put this up in the list!’. Reading this made me regret not building last year’s list because CENTAAAAAAUR in the Old Wild West is just fun. Its amazing how Toril’s art makes this comic both amusing and hot with every click of the page. It’s not some Pony Express romance but James is not exactly a pony, is he? Can a centaur be a stallion — like… ya get me!?! Asa probably does.

Insomnia

Insomnia

I am much too old to appreciate nightclubs but when cute boys are involved, I don’t mind reading a chapter or two. Insomnia’s closer to familiar territory as it’s drawn and structured like a Japanese comic with characters whose features remind me more of K-pop boybands. And given that it’s set in a nightclub, I feel like the boys will be murdering the dancefloor soon.

Jamie

Jamie

Cutie-patootie Jamie crosses the hottest guy in school in a friend’s wedding. His BL life begins. The story’s going at a comfortable pace and I’d love to see how Jamie’d tokimeki life folds out.

Light Romantic

Light Romance

Opposites attract. That’s a rule long tested in BL and Light Romantic takes a shot in experimenting with these two opposites.

Men + Monsters (EXPLICIT)

Men + Monsters

A teratophile Knight, his monster lover, and their robot companion grace the pages of this action adventure fantasy. I may never really ever use the word teratophile again but Men+Monster’s is from the same universe as Aero’s Ace of Beast so fans of Aero’s universe would totally enjoy this explicit tale. It’s hot treat for those who love their boys with fantastic muscled bodies in fantastic worlds.

Obnoxious Hiro-kun

Obnoxious Hero-kun

This series tickled my ore-sama interests as one of its protagonists, Hiro, is the kind of guy who thinks the whole world just loves him, even his classmate, Takashi-kun. This is a familiar tale for BL readers, a formula well tested and nicely executed.

Off Beat

Off Beat

Surprised? I know. When I started this list, Off Beat was offline and it broke my heart that I couldn’t feature it. However, thanks to Sparkler Monthly, this lovely story of friendship with a dash of mystery that always seem to follow geniuses like Tory is back online and is available to read for everyone.

On for Tonight

On for Tonight

Strippers. ‘Nuff said.

Sharp Zero

Sharp Zero

Elliot’s the lead singer in his band and has a massive crush on the hot vigilante, Red Shift. Somewhere along the way, Elliot finds himself half-naked and ends up saving Red Shift’s ass. Rock stars turned vigilantes sounds like a wicked dream and I’m happy Sharp Zero’s covered it in their comic. I haven’t read far but there seems to be a love triangle in the works between Elliot, Red Shift, and Red Shift’s bro, Danny. I can only imagine Elliot’s dilemma, given the two brothers are both hot and adorable. WAT DO.

Stereophonic (NSFW)

Stereophonic

Two men find love in 1960s London. Elliot and Alex have an interesting friendship but I think what I love most is how the author knew their place given the story’s setting. I like how this story is so conscious of the shifting ideas on relationships and sexuality during 60s without looking or feeling outdated. It’s a nice read so far.

Sticky Dilly Buns (NSFW)

Sticky Dilly Buns

If you love MenageA3, then you’ll love Dillon’s shenanigans. Pixie Trix’s Archie-like strips on Dillon’s gay dating life is both cute and hilarious.

The Quick and Dirty Life of Fritz Fargo

Fritz Fargo

Fritz Fargo’s quite a handful and if you’re living the wild life, you need someone like Ed to keep you at bay. The story follows their life as they struggle with “fame” and “fortune”. It looks promising and I love the thick lines of this comic.

The Star Collector

The Star Collector

This falls in the same universe as Gayliens which appears to be a project among a group of friends who wish to draw gay aliens. Brilliant. This has more pages than Gayliens and looks closer at the origins of the two characters, Frankie and Rue. Beautifully drawn and refreshing to read, I’m excited to see how this series continues.

Tobias and Guy (NSFW)

Tobias and Guy

I’ve been noticing that a lot of these webcomics feature some kind of human x demihuman thing. This one features the romance between Guy and his devil boyfrando, Tobias. In funny strips and short stories, Tobias and Guy highlights what it’s like to have a devil for a boyfrando, such as a fire insurance can come in handy if things get too hot in the bedroom.

Now if that list is not enough, check out the previous webcomic recs!

I’ve updated the links except for some that are long gone and dead. But on your special day, fujoshi, you deserve this BL break! Have a nice Yaoi no Hi!
